Internet Reasearch 2

I think that this is a good/truting website. The site not only gives the fact about good and bad things about uniform but also gives historical information about the uniform with numbers and the year. Moreover, for each comments on pros and cons, they show some accident that actually occurred.  So I think we can trust this site.

Internet Research

We regarded this website as a site we cannot trust. This is a summary site that summarizes all kinds of topics, but we cannot be 100% sure if the data and surveys are trustworthy enough. This site may include opinions of certain people, and sites which we can really trust should include more specific research data.

Perspective of a student

Hi, I am a  student in a japanese private school. I hate the point that my school has uniforms. The design is really unfashionable and besides, teachers are strict about the lengths of our skirts. Also, I cannot understand why girls have to wear skirts when boys can wear pants. Teachers do not understand that wearing skirts in winter is so cold! We have to walk to school everyday, so I want to wear clothes that make us warm. I strongly feel that schools should allow us to wear what we want to school. It is an important way we can express our personalities.
I think that wearing school uniforms can be a dangerous thing sometimes. My classmate told me that she was being stalked by a man who she met at a convenience store one day after school. When she noticed she was being followed, she quickly ran away to a nearby police box. She was really scared because he would come to our school sometimes and wait for my friend at the front gate at school. He was able to identify our school because of the uniform we wear. The police finally caught him so he does stalk her anymore, but that does not make my my friend feel safe again. When I heard her story, I thought that if we did not have school uniforms, it would have been a little more harder for the stalker to identify our school.
There is another reason why I am against school uniforms. School uniforms are pretty expensive and not all families can afford them. We not only have to buy summer and winter skirts and blouses, but also socks and shoes. I think if we can wear our own clothes to school, we can save more money. I heard that schools which do not have uniforms are increasing in Tokyo so I wish all schools in Japan let students wear what they want.

School Teacher's Perspective

Hello. I am a teacher of the Japan’s private high school. I know that many of the rules in this school are very strict, which includes the way students ‘have to’ wear uniforms. These days, many of the schools are getting loose about the safety and starting to create uniforms that look cute and the length of the skirt is getting shorter and shorter. Because of that, many of the students are always holding the back of their skirt when going up the stairs in order to avoid from other people. However, this action is also dangerous because they cannot use their hands when the accident occurred.
From the teacher’s point of view, I think uniforms are necessary and it is because not only for the education but for safety. If the skirt was too short, not matter if it’s a uniform or a normal clothes, it is more likely for students to get into trouble on the train especially because my school is in a center of the Tokyo, Shibuya. Many people use this station and the trains are very crowded in the morning. It is dangerous for students to get on a train with many workers. In order to get rid of even just a little bit of scariness, our school’s uniform is strictly set. I just want my students to understand important the rule is and I would like them to follow then better than now.
Moreover, two of my students got caught by drinking in the Karaoke Box. The crew at Karaoke found this out and thanks to uniform, the crew was able to tell what school they went to. So the crew immediately contacted the school and later, those two students were scolded at by other teachers. If it were not for the uniform, the crew may not have realized that they were underage, or those two students may have told the wrong information. Because I have experienced this at my school, I am so glad of uniforms at my school.
