What types of school uniforms are there in Japan?

There are mainly two types of school uniforms in Japan. They are sailor uniforms and blazers which we introduced in our blog earlier (When was the first school uniform worn in Japan?). However, we found out that in detail, there are six more types of school uniforms for girls.

 1. Bolero
This is also a common school uniform in Japan. Students usually wear bolero on top of jumper skirts which I will introduce later on.

2. Eton Jackets
Not many schools inject this type of uniform, but some private schools have this type.

3.Jumper skirts
Jumper skirts are usually injected in Pre-schools and Elementary schools.

4. Overall Skirts
 Very uncommon type of uniform.

5. Suspender Skirts
A common type of uniform especially for elementary and junior high schools.

6. One-piece Dress
Least common type in Japan. Usually wear boleros or eton jackets in the winter.

  1. Illustrations or photos would be useful. It's hard for me to picture the Bolero. I can only imagine some that looks fit for dancing the flamenco.

I would be curious about when school uniforms for girls began to be made into fetishes and sexualized. Also, this seems to be more common for Japanese school uniforms than the uniforms in other countries. I remember when I first came to Japan I asked an adult female student of mine why sailor suits were so common as uniforms and she answered that it was because male school officials chose them.
